Identify Course Requirements– To develop skills in microphone techniques, studio recording, sound synthesis and sampling techniques for music production. To record a range of sounds; instrument recordings, sounds-capes, sound effects, vocals / dialogue, or anything that I would like to capture. Experimenting is encouraged! Final outcome is to create an original song, cover or remix. Learn how to synthesise and create sounds using different types of synthesis. This may include; additive, subtractive, FM or granular synthesis techniques to create a range of different sounds; these sounds can be saved as patches for future recall. A minimum of 3 different synthesis techniques and patches should be saved and submitted. Voice, instrument, sound effects or loops will be recorded in the studio, using an appropriate range of microphones and techniques. Edit these sounds to generate a sample library to use in production; at least 4 of these audio samples should be triggered from an audio sampler. Although an individual project we are encourage to work with other students when recording and capturing your sounds.
Minimum requirements - The creative use of at least one original synthesised sound, as well as 4 audio samples triggered via a sound sampler, mapped to individual keys, key groups or zones demonstrating accurate triggering of the sampler and synthesiser, contain at least 4 MIDI parts, last a minimum of 3 minutes duration, demonstrates creative use of time based effects and dynamic processing.
